Yves Dana - ENTRE NOIR ET BLANC

The exhibition of the Swiss sculptor Yves Dana at Flora Bigai Arte Contemporanea opened on April 22nd and will continue until June 15th; it consists of 16 works conceived specifically for the gallery spaces, made of bronze and stone such as lava from Santorini, white limestone from Sinai and basalt from Sweden.
Yves Dana's shapes aspire to rise, they are totems, steles, they point to eternity but then the imprinted movement makes them fall back on themselves, with shapes that tend to close.

An imposing stele of over five meters, an impressive bronze of 250 cm accompany the spaces of the gallery, as well as works of smaller dimensions. In these works Dana exalts the smallest details as if each surface corresponded to a sheet, the page of a book. It's called Entre Noir et Blanc, but one could say between full and empty, straight and reverse, front and back or any other theory of opposites that supports the poetic world of Dana and his sculpture as an autobiography.
The artist himself guides us to the understanding of his works: “ Thus, I include forms of erosion, cracks, small fissures.. Matter is not eternal, it is also subject to this great cycle of time, like a stone that bears marks, traces and, despite the perfection of having been turned and turned by the water for millions of years, tells us about its past”.

The exhibition catalog contains an essay by Luca Beatrice.
