Arnaldo Pomodoro

For the second time, Flora Bigai Arte Contemporanea staged a solo exhibition of one of the great Italian masters of the XXth century: Arnaldo Pomodoro.

As Danilo Eccher argues, the artistic path of Pomodoro, far from being linear, could be defined as a 'spiral', apparently circular but absolutely surprising, full of convolutions and inventions. Pomodoro's work is part of a common research in the compositional panorama of the 1960s; he imposes himself with his peculiar features: a closed shape and a solid rather than flat geometry, to which the mystery of an internal shape is added, only vaguely perceived in its formal disorder.

The observer is transported from a form of classic and stately solidity to a dimension of research, of depth, an internal tangle dominated by the uncertainty of doubt and the ambiguity of the symbol. Each of his works bears the eternal mark of the sculptor, absolutely recognizable and unmistakable for his unique language.
